USA based AT&T says that it has signed a deal to support mobile credit
card payments with Vantiv.
The companies will offer two services -- on a virtual checkout application
designed to run on tablets, and the other a credit-card scanner for use with
smartphones.
Explaining the service, AT&T cited a report from Forrester Research that
projects that U.S. mobile payments will reach $90 billion
in 2017, representing a 48 percent compound annual growth rate from the $12.8
billion spent in 2012.
"AT&T's sales force and its retail locations create a powerful new
distribution channel for Vantiv's mobile products to reach the millions of
businesses who need this important functionality." said Elizabeth
Rector, Senior Vice President and General Manager for eCommerce and
Mobile at Vantiv.
