The Apple rumour-mill is starting to crank up already for the next in its
series of smartphones, with reports that it might not bother upgrading the
camera sensor.
Shares in a camera components supplier, Largan Precision fell following
reports that the next iPhone handset will ship with the same 8-megapixel sensor
as its current model, and not the 16-megapixel version that the supplier had
hoped to supply.
Citing Nomura Securities, China Post
reported that Largan's recently lagging performance in the market is caused by
rumors that Apple may adopt an 8 megapixel camera with improved optical image
stabilization on its upcoming handset, instead of the 16 MP upgrade anticipated
by industry observers.
