Five Kenyan photographers have won the inaugural Capture Kenya Challenge, sponsored by the leading integrated communications service provider Safaricom.
The winners - Mutua Matheka, Migwa Nthiga, Allan Gichigi, Isabell Gathoni and Tom Otieno, were among the 50 photographers and photo-journalists selected to participate in the competition.
For 7 days, the 5 teams comprising of a producer and a blogger went out to various parts of Kenya searching for beautiful shots of everyday Kenya. Twelve images were chosen and used in the 2014 Safaricom calendar.
Mutua Matheka known for his land scape photography was paired with Crazy Nairobian on a journey of Eastern Kenya, Isabell Gathoni went to the Rift Valley region with entertainment blogger David Mugo, while "Magiqal Lens" Migwa Nthiga's was paired up with Owaah.
Seasoned Nyanza-based photojournalist Tom Otieno toured greater Nairobi in the company of blogger Robert Mwirigi Kunga, while Allan Gichigi was paired up with the blogger Kevin Mbuthia on a tour of Nyanza region.
