Kenya’s Safaricom chooses Mobixell to manage data:

Kenya’s leading telecom operator Safaricom announced that it has chosen multimedia and advertising service provider Mobixell Networks’ Seamless Access for its mobile data management.
“Mobixell Web acceleration technology is a part of the Mobixell Seamless Access mobile multi-service platform which also offers video optimization and value added data services,” the company said in announcing the agreement. The move continues to show the top mobile operator in the East African country is pushing forward on its infrastructure and development strategy in the country in order to maintain its dominant position within the telecom market.
“Seamless Access is integrated into the operator’s mobile core network to accelerate the browsing response and page load times for Internet content and services,” it added.
Mobixell will also provide the operator with filtering capabilities to help users with Safaricom ensure that children do not access offensive material or adult content online.
The move is largely seen as a positive continuation of Safaricom’s efforts to maintain quality customer service along with enabling its users to have the freedom to enhance their mobile browsing capabilities.
Safaricom has been hit with worries over its stock numbers after the country’s telecom regulator said it was looking at leveling a 10 percent tax on mobile money transfers in the country.
