Liberian Regulator to Monitor International Call Traffic:

Liberia's telecoms regulator has set up a International Gateway Monitoring (IGM) project to ensure that the mobile networks comply with international call routing regulations.
In an overview of the IGM Project, the regulator that it has been able to generate US$3 million for the government. The LTA Commissioner with oversight on the IGM Project said Lonestar Cell and Cellcom GSM were already connected, announcing that other companies would be connected by the end of today to avoid fraud.
He said the IGM system will be able to monitor and identify international calls posing problems of delayed calls, call- drop, illegal trafficking, among others.
The regulaotr has awarded a 5-year contract to the Global Voice Group (GVG) to manage the gateway monitoring platform, after which ownership will revert to the regulator.
